StoneFort Encampment traces its early beginnings back to our Vision for the Church(Tyler Metro) and as early as our first session, God made his purpose for Camp clear -- to lead others into a growing relationship with him through high-adventure. Under the leadership of our board of directors, the path for StoneFort Camp outreach began to take shape. Pastor Jerry Phelps, director Mike and Belinda Riddle, along with a small group of trained volunteers introduced schools, churches and businesses to the thrill of growing to know Christ through high-adventure.
Our facilities include both a high and low ropes course, which are of the highest quality in both construction and creativity. With the addition of the Drop Zone in 2000, the High Course holds something for everyone, from the first time camper to the StoneFort veteran. Our rustic camping facilities provide an adventerous home away from home for our campers. The camp sites include shelters, showers and restrooms. StoneFort rests in a remarkable wilderness environment that sets off our Facilities, campsites, and challenge courses.
In 1998, StoneFort Day Camp made its debut. In cooperation with Community Churches and Schools, StoneFort Day Camp hosts over 800 kids during its nine-week summer program. Presented for kids age 5-11, this ministry brings similar experinces and challenges from the wildreness into the suburbs and prepares them for our wilderness experiences as they mature.
Our goal is to treat our guests to the thrill of a lifetime, while exposing them to teachable moments that lead them into a deeper walk with Christ. In the past seven years StoneFort Camp has been priviledged to touch many lives through this exciting ministry, and this year promises to be as exciting as ever.
